Steam Trailer Preflight

Check your trailer file against Valve's Steamworks trailer requirements before you upload. The file is read locally; only its metadata is parsed and nothing is uploaded.

Steam trailer requirements

• Resolution: highest you have, up to 1920×1080. Use a common size such as 1920×1080 or 1280×720.
• Frame rate: 30/29.97 or 60/59.94 fps.
• Bitrate: 5,000+ kbps. Valve's Adobe Media Encoder preset is H.264 at 20 Mbps with 192 kbps AAC stereo.
• Container: .mov, .wmv or .mp4. H.264 video and AAC audio preferred.
• Aspect: 16:9 preferred, 4:3 accepted. Audio 44.1 or 48 kHz; it is downmixed to stereo.

FAQ

Why did my trailer fail to process? Per Valve, the most common causes are an unusual resolution and an unsupported audio sample rate.
Does it support WMV? Steam accepts WMV, but this checker parses MP4/MOV only.
