Steam screenshot rules (Oct 2026)

Minimum 1920×1080, exact 16:9 aspect ratio
At least 5 screenshots on the store page
Combined size of all store-page screenshots and GIFs must stay under 15 MB
Gameplay only — no menus, title screens, or marketing slides (we don't detect content; check your shots)

itch.io screenshots are flexible; this tool still offers an optional itch/ folder of the same 1920×1080 16:9 exports for a consistent set.

Notes

GIFs count toward Steam's 15 MB budget but are not resized here — leave room if you upload animated previews. Need capsules and library art? Use the Game Store Art Exporter or the Steam Capsule Resizer.

FAQ

Is my art uploaded? No. Everything is drawn on canvases in your browser.
Fit crop vs letterbox? Fit crop fills the frame (may trim edges; drag to reframe). Letterbox pads with your chosen color so the whole image stays visible.
Why is total size over 15 MB? Hit “Fit under 15 MB” to lower JPEG quality globally, or drop quality / switch fewer shots to JPEG yourself. PNG is larger — prefer JPEG for the Steam budget.
